The Western Jr. C Champs Walkerton Hawks hockey team held its year-end awards banquet Saturday in Dunkeld, and players were presented trophies they won throughout the 2007-2008 hockey season. Club president Raymond Wright said of the season, “you guys said it all on the ice”. Executive member Willie Dales said it was “a season to remember”.
Taking home some special trophies for their efforts were, from left: Curtis Johnston, top scorer and MVP awards; Derek Skinner, best defenceman; Tyler Kuntz, rookie of the year; Ryan Fry, most dedicated player; Mike Roelofsen, playoff MVP; and Keegan Tolton, most improved player. Absent from photo was Ryan Amyot, winner of the executive choice award. Coach Joe Bak’s wife, Jordi, was also presented with the ‘Best Fan’ award by the executive.
