Brockton’s recreation and facilities director is hoping increase police
patrols and alert neighbours will put a stop to a recent spat of vandalism
in washrooms at Tot Lot park and the Centennial Park swimming pool.
“It’s totally disgusting,” Dan Wilken told The WHT Monday morning. He said
human feces has been found in the sinks and washrooms at both facilities
“two to three times a week”. The perpetrators have even spread the feces on
the walls.
He said its discouraging for staff who “clean it up every day and come in to
find it again. They’re leaving quite a mess,” he added.
Wilken said he’s notified South Bruce OPP and hopes area residents will also
keep an eye out for late night users.
Wilken is also concerned about people climbing the fence to use the pool
after hours.
“There’s an extreme health and safety issue here, especially with the cover
on the pool,” he said. “Something serious could happen,” Wilken said.
He wonders if it’s the same group using the pool as human feces has also
been found on the diving board and pool deck.
“We just want it to stop, and hopefully, with everyone’s help, it will,”
Wilken said.
