Brockton Mayor Charlie Bagnato potentially has two elections on his plate.
Bagnato is the federal Liberal candidate for Huron-Bruce riding.
That leaves him with a decision to make before the Oct. 25 municipal election rolls around.
Bagnato said he’s committed to running for the federal Liberals, but is in limbo about when that election will be called. That’s having an impact on decisions about his career in municipal politics.
“We could go as long as three years before a federal election happens,” Bagnato said with a trace of frustration.
“If there’s nothing on the horizon (this year) I would throw my name in the hat for mayor.”
Bagnato admits a spring federal election is unlikely, but he’s convinced the wait won’t be a long one.
“I sincerely believe there’s going to be an election this year. That’s just my feeling,” he said.
