This is the time of year that usually drives me crazy – and each year it only seems to get worse.
Spring (and at times summer) came nice and early this year, causing most of us to have to scurry around to get the lawn mowers up and running.
However, rather then spend a lot of time cleaning up the gardens and such, Tuula and I decided to enjoy the warm temperatures and blue skies by relaxing on the back deck. Sure we got some work done, but, looking back at it now, probably not enough – especially with the weather we’ve had of late.
And that’s my annual dilemma. Just when the grass starts growing seemingly two to three inches a day, I’m either busy at work or attending meetings. But if I’m home, it’s either raining (or even snowing as on the weekend) or it’s too dang cold to consider cutting the grass – as I’ve written here in the past, I refuse to cut the grass if it means I have to wear a toque, gloves, and a winter coat!
What happened to that nice spell of weather we had at Easter? Here we were on April 4 basking under sunny skies during our family getogether. Then five weeks later, along comes Mother’s Day weekend and Mother Nature sends us back to winter. Go figure!
With meetings scheduled for three out of five days again this week, the yard will have to wait for a few days more. I did manage to get half of the lawn done last Thursday, (skipping a meeting to do so) but by the time I’ll get to do the second half, the first half will need it again. I think I see the same pattern every year.
But, there could be a light at the end of the tunnel. Temperatures are supposed to climb back up to their normal levels (high teens) this weekend.
If it doesn’t rain too much, you’ll know where you will find me.
